Ductless Heat Pumps

There are many reasons why you might be interested in ductless air conditioning in Canada. Perhaps your existing central air conditioning unit is causing you to constantly have to open your windows in order to cool off your home. Or maybe your current system doesn’t seem to be working efficiently and it seems like more work is required than ever to keep it operating. ductless air conditioning can take care of all these problems for you and many more, because it doesn’t use ducts at all. Contrary to popular belief, this type of air conditioning doesn’t utilize ducts at all; it uses convection instead. How does this work?

We mentioned above that ductless mini-split systems are used in commercial buildings. Many large malls and hotels use them, and more, residential homes are finding out how beneficial they can be. In addition to reducing duct cleaning, ductless systems also save money on HVAC bills and energy. The less air you have to suck up and push through ducts, the less energy you need to operate that air conditioning unit.

Did you know that installing a ductless heat pump can actually increase the value of your home? If you’re thinking about putting your home on the market, don’t forget to check out the building’s heating and cooling efficiency. Just because you’re installing a ductless air conditioning unit in a commercial building doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look at the other aspects as well. While you should certainly include an HVAC professional in the inspection, you should also consider hiring a builder who is familiar with ductless systems to come look at the rest of your home.

Another reason you should consider installing a ductless system is that the ductless units are actually more efficient than their air-source counterparts when it comes to heating and cooling. This is because they don’t rely on cold air moving through ducts, but on warmer indoor air circulating through the vents. While you might think of these units as having cold air ducts running from the wall, that’s really not the case. Instead, these units rely on what is called the induced heat flow method to draw in indoor air and then push it outdoors through ductwork.

You can use this method of air circulation throughout your home for both cooling and heating purposes. The key is making sure that you install a ductless mini-split system in the areas where you need it most. For example, a ductless heat pump can be a valuable addition to a home in the attic because it can reduce your energy costs by lowering the need for air-source heating and cooling. If you have a large, drafty attic, installing one of these devices will take care of that problem.

In some cases, ductless heat pumps are installed in the wall-mounted spaces instead. This is commonly done with mini splits. The difference between a wall-mounted installation is that the latter provides more cooling and heating options to a given area because of the size and shape of the device. As such, if you have a large area that you want to cool or heat, you might want to consider one of these devices. If you want to keep your energy bills down, however, you may prefer to go with a wall-mounted unit.
